Contempora Steel Builders win the Avitan 5 Star Award.
Contempora Steel Builders is a contracting company located in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Though they specialize in building with steel, they have built many wood frame structures as well.
Their many years of training with Avitan have caused a lot of profitable changes. These changes have allowed them to succeed in the 5 areas that Avitan calls the "Pillars" of a flourishing trades company. These pillars are 1) Profitability, 2) Office and Financial Efficiency, 3) Organization and Productivity, 4) Marketing and Sales and 5) Quality Control.
George Constantinades, one of the partners at Contempora, stood to accept the award. He cited his great team for his success and said that Avitan Business Resources has made a big difference in their company.

Avitan’s 6th Annual National Workshop is a stellar success.
Once again, Avitan chose Beecher Place, right on the edge of Crescent Beach, as the setting for their annual workshop. The theme this year was a subject that rarely comes up in business discussions: "Happiness". Several interesting and engaging speakers discussed the idea of creating happiness for the owners of the companies, and for their employees.
Also on the agenda was a fascinating discussion of the advantages of constructing using Green building practices. Speaking was Greg Constable, owner of Island Westcoast Developments. He has brought his company to fantastic success and profitability by setting up an unchallengable marketing position as "THE" green builder for Vancouver Island's interior.
With a warm, sunny spring day, a beautifull setting, fantastic food, and interesting speakers, everybody present had a great time. All are looking forward to seeing how Avitan will top things with next year's event.

The Big Day Approaches Again
This is Avitan's biggest event of the Year. Every June, all our clients gather from across Western Canada for a fun, exciting, informative all day workshop.
On the waterfront at beautiful Crescent Beach, the workshop is for our Trades Company Owners and their spouses, and focuses on getting the most out of life.
This is the time, also, where we will announce who will be this year's 5 Star Award winner. The award goes to the Avitan client who has demonstrated the greatest success in implementing Avitan's 5 pillars of business success.

We now have 3 Levels of Classroom Experience
The Avitan Classroom has been so successful that we are expanding it in order to offer 3 levels of knowledge.
Level one is intended for the tradesman who is just starting their life as a business owner and needs a hand knowing where to begin.
Level two is for those who've been grinding away with their trades business for a couple or more years, but just haven't been able to achieve the success they intended when they started.
Level three is for the business owner who has a solid grounding in Avitan business principles and is ready to bring the whole experience to the next level.
With these three levels, we are now in a position to address the needs of everyone who is running a trades company but is working to hard for not enough gain.

In 2009 we introduced our newsletter for clients, kicked off our inaugural Trade Talk season and began the Avitan Classroom. While doing this, we also expanded our programs and created some powerful new business tools.

Our first year of Trade Talks has come to a close!
Avitan Business Resources has completed its first year-long cycle of Trade Talks. Amos Avitan, Company President and an expert in the field of helping trades companies become profitable, traveled from city to city in Western Canada, speaking at a new event each week.
For months, many dozens of tradesmen were given a complimentary breakfast while Amos showed them how to work on their companies instead of working in them.
Though many people would find the pace exhausting, for Amos the chance to help struggling contractors find a better way to manage their businesses was exhilarating. That’s probably the reason why the event has already become a staple among Western Canada’s tradespeople.

Trade Talks resume after summer break
Avitan Trade Talks are back. Over breakfast in the local restaurants of several major cities, we discuss topics of immediate importance to contractors. Topics such as bonding, marketing your company, securing your client relationships and more have been covered in past sessions. But don’t worry, many important topics are still to come.
September’s topic is “9 Steps to Effective Collections”. Our meeting will be filled with tips and tricks for making the process of collecting on receivables smooth and professional as well as extremely effective.

Avitan is joining with contractors in Saskatchewan

Island Westcoast Developments wins the Avitan 5 Star Award.
Island Westcoast Developments is a general contracting company located in Nanaimo, B.C. During their four years of training with Avitan they have grown from a home-based business to a large company that is leading the way in green building practices on Vancouver Island. Recently they’ve also expanded to projects on B.C.’s mainland. Set by the ocean in Vancouver’s Crescent Beach, attendees of our workshop were treated to fascinating discussions around the theme of getting the most out of life. Sunshine, great food, and the oportunity to meet other contractors from around Western Canada helped this year’s participants experience our most rewarding Annual Workshop yet. Afterwards, everyone relaxed and chatted over cocktails and snacks. To top it all off, every participant left with a bag full of free gifts.
